Art at Ballymaloe House

Several Fine Artwork pieces owned by Ballymaloe House are exhibited in the Drawing room and throughout the house. To learn about the pieces, we encourage residents to join the History Tour with Fern Allen on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11am.

Art Exhibitions

The Ballymaloe Grainstore, located on the grounds of Ballymaloe House, hosts regular art exhibitions featuring a diverse range of Irish artists. The collection of artwork changes every 6 weeks, offering a unique and fresh experience for the visitors.

Ballymaloe Shop & Café

The Ballymaloe shop and café is located on the grounds of Ballymaloe House, selling Irish-made gifts, crafts, knitwear and kitchenware. Ballymaloe Café is located at the rear of the gift shop, serving a range of homemade cakes, beverages and wine, both are open daily from 9.30am to 6pm.

Croquet

As a resident of Ballymaloe House, you can enjoy a classic game of croquet on the lush green lawn, located at the front of the house. With its traditional charm and relaxed pace, croquet is a fun activity for all ages and skill levels. A perfect way to unwind and enjoy a day in the sun. Mallets and balls are provided and rules of the game are available from reception.

Cycling

As a resident, you can enjoy scenic cycling on the grounds of the Ballymaloe estate. The picturesque route takes you through the gardens, along maintained pathways, and past lush fields. A perfect way to relax and stay active during your stay. Bikes of several sizes are available.

Summer Swimming

The outdoor swimming pool is opened once the weather gets warmer, normally from May to September. The pool is heated sustainably and open throughout the summer season. The rest of the year, the pool is home to wegive the space to aquatic wildlife, in the Spring a home to hundreds of tadpoles.

Tennis

Residents of Ballymaloe House can enjoy the use of a private, somewhat rustic, outdoor tennis court surrounded by lush greenery, offering a serene setting for a friendly match. Equipment is provided and pre-bookings are not necessary, a great way to stay active.

Visit the Farm

Ballymaloe Farm is a home to variety of animals such as free-range hens, pigs and sheep, you can see on your walk. Throughout the grounds you will see other examples of nature initiatives such as owl breeding boxes and our own beehives.

Walks

Ballymaloe House is set within 300-acres of gardens, woodlands, and farmland. Our guests are provided with a pair of wellingtons, allowing to them to wander effortlessly along the paths which are suitable for every fitness level. Walking maps are available from reception, detailing recommended walking trails, and average trail times.

Yoga

The Ballymaloe Grainstore offers yoga classes for residents looking to unwind and rejuvenate. The classes are held 5 days a week, led by experienced instructors, catering for all levels. Enjoy a peaceful atmosphere in serene surroundings. A greatway to connect your mind, body, ands pirit.  Pre-booking is essential, and charges apply.
