Daily Tours

Let Us Show You Around
When you are staying in a country house with such a rich history, it is nice to have someone to give you a first-hand account of its various charms and quirks. That is why we conduct a number of guided tours in the hotel and around the grounds. We are delighted to offer them free of charge to residents (non-residents are charged), but ask that you pre-book in advance. You can do that by contacting us today.

Tuesdays & Saturdays – 10:30-11:30
The youngest daughter of Ivan and Myrtle Allen, House Manager Fern, will take you on an informative and deeply personal tour of the places she grew up enjoying. Explore the rooms, view their artworks and hear the fascinating stories of what life was like living in this majestic home.

Mondays & Thursdays – 10:30-11:30
From April to October, our Head Groundskeeper, Tobias Pedersen, runs a tour about the importance of biodiversity and the efforts we all make to preserve it. Journey through our different ecosystems and see our wilding plantations, pollinator planting, ponds, ducks, and microscopic plants, before ending on a visit to our very special weeping beech tree.

Fridays – 11:00 – June and July
Take a relaxed, informative and light-hearted tour of esteemed works by leading Irish artists, with Richard Scott, the curator of the annual Ballymaloe Sculpture Exhibition. Featuring an array of eye-catching displays that reflect themes including nature, objects and people in a variety of materials, some have to be seen to be believed.

Wednesdays – 10:45-11:25
From April until late September, you can join our Head Gardener on a guided tour through their wonderful walled garden. Visit the different sections, learn our planting techniques and see the wide variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs we grow and harvest, so you can enjoy.

Thursdays & Fridays – 17:00-17:40
Deep within our foundations is a wine cellar stacked with an extensive selection of award-winning wines. Guided by the Head Sommelier Samuel Chantoiseau, this is your unique opportunity to explore the cellar, learn about its varieties of natural, organic and biodynamic wines and even enjoy a sample of some of them.
