The Farm

Beans on a stalk

Always Farm Fresh

Ballymaloe House Hotel has always been renowned for our farm-to-table principles. As part of this, we have a fully operational farm just up past the historic house. And as with so many elements of a stay here with us, we encourage you to get up close and personal to it.

Take a walk up to see our free-range chickens or the hens that guarantee our supply of fresh eggs. Cycle one of our electric bikes over to our free-range pigs as they feast on beans and grain grown on the farm. Then make sure to head over to our award-winning restaurant to sample some of the simple Irish cuisine they all contribute to.

Planting And Growing

As well as our sheep, hens and pigs, we also grow a huge range of fruits, vegetable and herbs on site. Take a walk or a guided tour around the farm and you will see strawberries; raspberries; loganberries; gooseberries; red and white currants; plums; pears; figs; grapes, rhubarb, blackcurrants, quince, damsons and nectarines.

In 2014, we planted a 2-acre apple orchard. Today, it provides us with the delicious apple juice we serve at breakfast and the famous Ballymaloe Cider you can enjoy in the bar. What’s more, the stunning floral arrangements you will see in the guestrooms, dining rooms and public spaces are all grown right here throughout the year.
