Join us for a weekend of wine exploration, appreciation and tasting led by wine expert Colm McCan, an esteemed teacher, alongside our Head Sommelier Samuel Chantoiseau. Guided by these experts, you will discover the world of wine, explore organic, biodynamic, and natural wines from diverse regions, learn about emerging trends in the wine industry, and refine your skills in the delicate art of food and wine pairing.
This delightful introduction to wine appreciation is available as a 2-night stay on the 1st and 2nd of March 2024.
On arrival, you will be invited to enjoy a complimentary slice of seasonal cake and freshly brewed tea and coffee beside the fire in the Drawing Room. An optional guided tour of our historical wine cellar with a welcome drink will take place at 6pm.
A five-course dinner on Saturday night is included in the package, with a wine pairing from our award-winning wine list, recommended by our Head Sommelier. We serve 5-course, seasonal farm-to-fork cuisine and you can dine privately, or with fellow wine enthusiasts.
Enjoy the evening of culinary delights and settle in for the next day’s wine talks and sharing of wine knowledge.
The first talk will begin after breakfast on Saturday, from 10.30am to 12.30pm followed by a light lunch with a glass of sparkling. You will discover the world of wine during the second wine talk, taking place between 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
You can then relax and enjoy some leisure time for the rest of the evening, perhaps even enjoying a glass of wine from our extensive wine selection. Be sure to enjoy the grounds around Ballymaloe House Hotel, charming in every season. We will provide you with a pair of wellingtons and a map to help you explore the surroundings of the hotel, including the 5km walk spanning the hotel grounds.
On Sunday morning, the last wine talk starts at 10.30am to 12.30pm. This is a weekend journey for those looking to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of wine.
