Back by Popular Demand. Fishamble: The New Play Company - Presents a double bill direct from the Abbey Theatre Dublin. Pat Kinevane's SILENT, Wednesday 11 December at 8pmand FORGOTTEN, Thursday 12 December at 8pm ‘Drop everything, book now… a consummate act of storytelling…captivating, moving, and – yes – even unforgettable.’ - The Irish Times on ForgottenCobh native Pat Kinevane's solos show, Silent, received a rapturous reception and a standing ovation in March. We are delighted to welcome him back with Silent as well as his other acclaimed solo show, Forgotten. Silent has the incredible honour of a run in the Abbey Theatre for the entire month of November. It has been touring in Ireland since 2010, to over 40 national venues and internationally to Paris, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Brighton, Zagreb, Sofia, Los Angeles, New York and most recently Australia. Silent is the winner of the SCOTSMAN FRINGE FIRST and HERALD ANGEL Awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011, and the ARGUS ANGEL Award at Brighton Festival 2012. It is the touching and challenging story of homeless McGoldrig, who once had splendid things. But he has lost it all – including his mind. He now dives into the wonderful wounds of this past through the romantic world of Rudolph Valentino. The production probes a dark spot in the Irish psyche with charm, wit and conviction, being a provocative and ultimately uplifting piece of theatre. Forgotten explores four characters, between the ages of 80-100 years old, who reside in care facilities and retirement homes. Presented in a fusion of European and Japanese Kabuki theatrical styles, the piece is a dark and comical portrayal of the challenges facing older people in Ireland today. Pat Kinevane and Jim Culleton spent six months developing and rehearsing Forgotten with support from a number of artists, academics, designers and community and health experts. This period culminated in its first performance on 25 May 2006 for the Bealtaine Festival when it was met with an overwhelming response. Forgotten has been touring nationally and internationally since to great public and critical acclaim. Jim Culleton, Artistic Director of Fishamble: The New Play Company says: ‘I am delighted and proud that Fishamble: The New Play Company is presenting this double bill of Silent and Forgotten by Pat Kinevane and particularly that we are coming to Ballymaloe Grainstore. I believe Cork audiences will enjoy Silent and Forgotten which are now touring back at home following a tour of Australia earlier this year.’
