Ballymaloe House is delighted to introduce a timetable of mid-week Fireside / Conservatory Chats this November and December.  This series of events and COVID compliant gatherings, are part of a unique mid-week dinner, bed and breakfast package at a special seasonal rate of €430 per couple (for a standard room and subject to availability).

The package includes a signed copy of Rachel Allen's new, fabulously seasonal, book - SoupBrothBread and for Rachel's evening, she will sign the copy for you there and then.

Rory O'Connell, Rachel Allen, Rory Allen and Regina Sexton will host their informal gathering and dialogue / subject of their choice at 6pm, on their scheduled evening, for 45 minutes before guests enjoy their own table for their leisurely 5-course dinner.

Thursday 18th November:

Rory O’Connell

Co-founder and Teacher at Ballymaloe Cookery School, food writer and broadcaster.

Rory first came to Ballymaloe House in the 1970's to work with Myrtle Allen.  In 1983 he co-founded the Ballymaloe Cookery School with his sister Darina Allen.  

Rory will discuss a life in food: Cooking, Teaching, Writing.

Thursday 25th November (Thanksgiving):

Rachel Allen

Teacher, food writer, broadcaster and cook.

Rachel has just launched her fabulous new book Soup Broth Bread.  It is packed full of delicious warming recipes.  

Fireside is the perfect setting to meet Rachel, and have your very own copy personally signed.


Wednesday 1st December:

Regina Sexton, University College Cork

Food and Culinary Historian, food writer, broadcaster and cook.  

Regina will talk about her own career path. She will pay particular attention to the role of Myrtle Allen in directing Irish food culture as seen through her papers, which are now being catalogued by Special Collections in UCC's Boole Library.

Wednesday 8th December:

Rory Allen.  

Musician, Ballymaloe Grainstore manager.

As Myrtle and Ivan's son, Rory grew up at Ballymaloe House and will talk about ‘The Story of Ballymaloe and Myrtle my Mother.’
