Ballymaloe is a Country House situated in East Cork, Southern Ireland. The restaurant & guest house has been open for 57 years & has built itself a reliable reputation.

The Front Desk team is very much the ‘Face of Ballymaloe’. The first-people visitors or guests meet on arrival & the final contact on departure. For this reason this position is an extremely important one.

Main Duties Front of House

  • Managing daily arrivals, upcoming reservations & the front desk administration
  • Keeping all internal booking systems up to date: TablePath, Pixel, iHotel
  • Communicating & keeping all departments up to date with weekly guest numbers; Breakfast, lunch, dinner & events  
  • Communicate all our services, facilities & local attractions to guests as required
  • Ensure that the front of house & reception area is always clean & tidy
  • Always deal with our customers in a professional & courteous manner
  • Assisting individuals with queries throughout all departments internally at Ballymaloe House
  • Forecasting the day ahead; confirming lunch & dinner numbers, noting & communicating customer requests
  • Check-ins, check-outs, sales, voucher sales & taking all payments
  • Day to day duties; familiarity with the seasonal rates, special offers & packages, currency exchange, managing emails, & phone queries
  • Managing the daily cash-up
  • Answering, screening & forwarding all incoming phone calls
  • Liaising with Ballymaloe Cookery School, Shop & Café & all Ballymaloe associated businesses
  • Be aware of all first aid & fire procedures. Be familiar with onsite firefighting equipment
  • This role is a busy one, an ability to multi-task is essential
  • Versatility & flexibility are also essential in this job.
  • The successful applicant will be required to assist other departments & work weekends & evening shifts

Ballymaloe House is a country house run by the Allen family. Still to this day it is very much a family owned business. We are situated on a farm in the countryside & our philosophy is very much based on simplicity & the idea that less is more.

Guests are coming to stay in a house in the country with, the experience being more personal & unique.

Minimum of 1 years hotel reception experience desirable, but not essential

Schedule: 8-hour shifts; Day & night shifts, weekdays & weekends
