Winemaker dinner with Dave Palmer, Skillogalee, Clare Valley, South Australia
Friday 16th September 2011.

Skillogalee is a small family-owned winery set amongst wooded hills in one of the most picturesque parts of the Clare Valley, in South Australia.
Skillogalee is a wine property found within the Clare Valley wine region. The property and business were purchased by Dave and Diana Palmer in 1989, however grapes were first grown on the property, in the early 1970's, on vineyards that are generally quite steep with eastern facing slopes. All the fruit for the wines from Skillogalee is produced from their own vineyards.

“Quite possibly our favourite South Australia winery (OK, so it is our favourite), Skillogalee is a small family outfit known for its spicy Shiraz, fabulous food and top-notch Riesling” Lonely Planet

Wine dinner, with Jane Ferrari, Yalumba Wine Ambassador, Barossa Valley, South Australia
29th September, 2011

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch “Yalumba” – aboriginal for “all the land around”.

Six generations and 160 years later Yalumba, Australia’s oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over. In association with, and thanks to Cassidy Wines for arranging the visit of Jane Ferrari to Ballymaloe.
