Musician, singer, recording artist, actor, raconteur Finbar Furey is one of the great Irish performing artists. He sold out Ballymaloe Grainstore two years ago, so we've invited him and his full band back for another show on Bank Holiday Sunday 5 June .
Finbar tours extensively, bringing his rare talents to a world-wide stage and treating audiences to evenings of pure Irish magic, great music, good humour, and the charm and sparkling wit.
He comes from a unique pedigree - an All Ireland Uillean Pipe Champion and whistle player, singer/songwriter as well as playing five-string banjo, and guitar. Finbar has been round the block many times with brother Eddie, recording for Transatlantic Records in the 1960s. He achieved fame as lead singer/frontman of The Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur.
Following the release of several chart topping albums and EPs, including The Wind and The Rain (1997), Chasing Moonlight (2003) and Colours (2012), Finbar appeared on RTE's music show, The Hit, in 2013. His single, The Last Great Love Song. introduced Finbar and his music to a whole new generation of fans, with The Last Great Love Song'topping the Irish singles charts.
2015 was a busy year for one of the last remaining living Irish legends. He keeps going from strength to strength, having completed a four-week German tour, a sold-out show at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, and successful tours in South Africa and the US. Finbar also received the Keys to Dublin City in 2015.
As an actor Finbar has appeared in Love/Hate on RTE, Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, Adam and Paul, and Strength and Honour. He recently featured on the RTE series For One Night Only with Gay Byrne.
