One of Ireland's foremost songwriters, Jimmy MacCarthy, brings his ‘Prophecy/Conspiracy?' tour to the Grainstore on Sunday 24 August.
The Macroom native has written classics of the Irish folk and contemporary repertoire including No Frontiers, Missing You, Ride On ,Katie, The Bright Blue Rose, The Contender, Mystic Lipstick, Song of the Singing Horseman, and many more.
Jimmy has worked with major Irish artists such as Christy Moore, Mary Black, Mary Coughlin and Maura O’Connell and has released four albums of his own.
With the 'Prophecy/Conspiracy?' tour he pays homage to old favourites such as Neidin, while introducing more recent work such as Andalucian Gray, Children of Mile, and Prophecy / Conspiracy?.
Jimmy’s nephew, Christopher MacCarthy Wall, joined the tour in February 2014, and brings an exciting new dimension to the show. He is a former member of Air Traffic, a band signed with EMI, who appeared on Later with Jools Holland and supported Snow Patrol on their UK Arena Tour.
Jimmy MacCarthy was singing in pubs and busking from an early age. His first single, Miles of Eyes, was released in 1981, followed by Like in the Movie and Adam at the Window. From there he went on to release four albums of his own: ‘The Dreamer, Song of the Singing Horseman, The Moment, and his most recent album, Hey Ho Believe, in 2010.
Jimmy is delighted to perform at the Ballymaloe Grainstore as part of his nationwide tour, which has included sell out performances in the National Concert Hall Dublin, Cork Opera House, and Vicar Street.
