
The Grain Store is the latest addition to Ballymaloe House. It is a 17th century farmyard building that was sensitively converted into an elegant multi-purpose venue. It is available to be used for conferences, art exhibitions, weddings, concerts, parties, dances, fashion shows, fund raisers and family events.
~ May 17th; Riesling Revolution - A journey to the heart of this great wine, with 3 winemakers from some of the great Riesling growing regions of the world:
Tim Adams, Clare Valley, South Australia
Carl Ehrhard, Rheingau, Germany
Séverine Schlumberger, Alsace, France
and chaired by John Wilson, wine writer, The Irish Times
Immediately following the wine presentation & tasting, there is the option of staying on to enjoy a Slow Food Summer Supper plate of artisan produce from local food producers, fisherman and cheesemakers. This part is priced (separately to the wine event) at €35 and proceeds from this, will go to the East Cork Slow Food Educational Project.
~ May 27th; Luddite Wines & Olive Oil. A South African Afternoon in Ballymaloe - Wine talk & tasting by Niels of his wines and Olive Oil
Sunday 27th May, 2012. 5.00pm €10 (for the wine talk & tasting). Sparkling wine on arrival, opened by Niels demonstrating the art of ‘sabrage’ – opening a bottle with a sabre.
Also, immediately following the South African Wine talk & tasting, will be a traditional South African Braai (BBQ) with Wildside’s Ted Berner and entertainment by local musicans.
